ASSESSMENT OF LOCAL CHROMITE SAND AS ‘GREEN’ REFRACTORY RAW MATERIALS FOR SAND CASTING APPLICATIONS IN A POST-PANDEMIC WORLD

In a post-pandemic world, health and environmental safety will become more important issue than it was before the COVID-19 pandemic. Several fields of engineering, including foundry industry, have already adopted measures in workplace. The risk pulmonary disease caused by inhalation fine particles silica sand, main moulding material used is rampant that industry. terms protection, new regulatory restrictions on disposal sand create need for aggregates to be recyclable silica. Chromite an alternative refractory metal casting applications, abundant South Africa. present study investigated whether this aggregate has better overall reusability focus use chromite foundries as contribution improving workplace reducing impact sand.
